wiggle central, serious edition (?)

why are so many "cute" websites borderline unusable?

this is an unfortunate issue ive noticed recently. now i dont claim to be the epitome of accessibility, however i do try my best considering i, myself am literally a person who needs certain accessibility features etc on websites. in the early days of my webmastery, i wasnt all too great with accessibility. i have obviously matured since then and realize the indie web is a place for EVERYONE.

however one niche within the indie web space is the WORST about accessibility, that being the cute websites. i have nothing personal against most of these people, since ive come to learn a lot of them are younger than me and arent as mature. however, that doesnt make it okay. one of these websites is SO unusable, that it made my expensive gaming laptops fan go crazy. i swear the scrolling on that page was going 1fps. i dont know what makes it so laggy, but that isnt even the biggest issue at hand. theres autoplaying music that has scared the absolute shit out of me multiple times, most (almost all) of the images on the homepage are hosted on catbox (i have my feelings about catbox. its banned in multiple countries, and using external file storage for most of your images isnt what you should be doing when neocities literally has its own built in host with LOTS of room, even on the standard plan. plus, sites break when i try to look on my school computer because it has file sharing sites blocked for some reason.), and as a whole is just super overstimulating. your website can still be cute while maintaining bare minimum user friendliness. again, this is nothing personal, i just believe this site has a LOT of work to do, and i dont want to sugarcoat it.

another thing ive noticed is very small and/or light colored text and just a general lack of contrast. this issue affects me personally, as i am someone with vision issues.

anywho, this is a subject im incredibly passionate about and will be speaking on more. bye! <3
